The ON Purpose Collective is launching the FIRST dance drill team in partnership with The New Orleans Legacy Project to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of  The New Orleans Four (Gail Etienne, Ruby Bridges, Leona Tate, and Tessie Prevost), the world renowned 6-year-old girls who rocked this nation and changed the world when they desegregated formerly whites-only public schools in New Orleans.

Torre’ M. Merricks

Torre’ M. Merricks is a professional dancer and choreographer dedicated to blending artistry, discipline, and purpose in every performance. With training in jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop, she has earned recognition through her captivating performances on stage and her commitment to mentoring and uplifting the next generation of dancers. Torre’ was a member of the MacArthur High School Brigade Belle Drill Team in Houston, Texas, where she developed her competitive spirit and performance skills. During her time on the team, the Brigade Belles earned the title of Grand Champions, marking a defining moment in her early dance journey. After high school, Torre’ continued her dance journey at Prairie View A&M University, where she expanded her training and refined her artistry. She was a member and captain of the Panther Dolls Dance Team. After earning her degree in 2020, Torre’ relocated back to New Orleans where her professional dance career began to blossom, allowing her to share her artistry while inspiring others through movement. Torre’ earned many opportunities to perform with big name artist and coach well known dance teams, this is where she began to grow an appreciation for mentoring New Orleans youth. Beyond the stage, Torre’ is passionate about giving back to young dancers, building community through the arts, and uplifting others with faith-driven creativity. When not dancing, you can find her in the classroom, where she pours the same passion and dedication into educating her students as she does into her artistry. Grounded in values of perseverance, self-expression, and empowerment, Torre’ continues to expand artistry through teaching, performing, and collaborative projects.

William  J.  McDonald

William J. McDonald is a multifaceted dance professional whose journey is deeply rooted in creativity, discipline, and structure . With an extensive background in dance performance, choreography, and design, he has dedicated his career to using movement as a tool for expression, education, and empowerment. William was Co-Captain of the John McDonogh Senior High School Drill Team. His Senior Year he became the Dance Coach of L.E. Rabouin High School’s Dance Team . After graduation, he also coached Walter L. Cohen , and L.B. Landry High School’s Dance Team . After many years of coaching and lending a helping hand working with many local dance teams he decided to start his own dance company. William then became founder and director of High Quality Dance Company. Over the years, this passion has evolved into a mission to nurture young talent and create spaces where youth can explore their potential. Through mentorship, William has guided countless students—helping them develop technical skill, artistic voice, and confidence both on and off the stage. William not only has a passion for dance but , also has a strong love for designing. He serves as the owner of Jmac Designs Luxury Accessories and Sashes. As a mentor, choreographer, and designer, William continues to champion the transformative power of dance. Whether working with emerging dancers, developing new creative projects, or shaping the next generation of leaders, he remain committed to making dance a space of growth, artistry, and lasting impact.

Chelcy Johnson

Chelcy Johnson is a dynamic dancer, instructor, and community leader born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her journey in dance began at the age of seven, when she enrolled at Kelly’s Dancing School. Even as a child, Chelcy’s passion for movement was unmistakable—she eagerly mimicked the choreography of her favorite artists, teaching herself routines and developing her own expressive style. Chelcy’s formal dance experience is both rich and diverse. She has been a proud member of the Warren Easton High School Eaglettes Dance Team, the New Orleans Dancing Fleur De Lis, Talladega College Dega Diamonds, and the Show-Stopping Crimsonettes. Through these groups, she honed her skills in various dance styles and performance settings. Her talent and dedication have led her to perform for renowned artists and events, including Master P, Lil Wayne, Dawn Richard, Keri Hilson, Choopa Styles, and the Bronner Bros Hair Show, among many others. Chelcy’s versatility also extends to acting, with an appearance as a background actor in the production "Sinners." In 2017, Chelcy graduated from Talladega College with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Her commitment to making a positive impact goes beyond the stage—she is deeply passionate about uplifting her community through the arts. Since 2017, Chelcy has served as a dance instructor, sharing her expertise and enthusiasm with students of all ages. She currently works as a dance teacher, coach, and fitness instructor, inspiring others to find confidence, joy, and self-expression through movement. Chelcy Johnson continues to blend her love for dance with her dedication to service, striving to make a difference both in and out of the studio. Let your faith lift you, your purpose ground you, and your dance tell the story in between.
